The Dance
By Jean Busatti
Copyright 2001 Jean Busatti
A poem about asking for a dance.

The dance begins.
From the shadows
Emerge dark figures.

As if on tip-toe,
One approaches
And begs the favor
Of a dance.

Will this be the one?
But no...
He leaves swiftly
As the pulse of the melody dies.

He will return
To seek another dance
And then...

To vanish once more
Into the darkness.
