We have a great diversity of writings including:Stories, essays, poems, lyrics, and more. Both nonfiction and fiction. Here are some suggested topics if you are a writer:
1. Life experiences and events involving seniors
2. Commentary on our society, past and present
3. Miracles, near-miracles, and empowering events
4. The crazy way I met my spouse, the day my first child was born, my first business, my first home, when my spouse died, how I overcame my biggest obstacle, my favorite hobby, about my best friend, the famous celebrity I grew up with, how I saved someone's life, the funniest thing that every happened to me, etc.
5. Special happenings in my family
6. Strange but true events in my life.
 
# 2 -Radio shows

 

Information if you are one of the following:
 
Listeners - If you cannot get the broadcast (e.g. because you are out of the area) or you want to listen to prior shows, call us for a tape.
 
Guests - As described at the right, we have about 10 guests per show (average of 4 minutes each). There are a wide variety of performances including reading and telling stories, singing songs and performing music, reading and discussing other writings including poetry, novels, etc., telling jokes, performing skits, etc.
 
Sponsors - Contact us for pertinent info about time and cost and the type of sponsorships. Many sponsors are guests on our show and have the opportunity to share information with are other guests, as well as listeners, in a friendly fun atmosphere.
 
About The SeniorMusings Radio Show
The SeniorMusings Radio Show is on WVOX 1460 AM every Thursday evening from 8:00pm to 9:00pm. Sixteen shows were broadcast from February through June 2001. Copies of tapes are available upon request. Broadcast from New Rochelle, NY, the show reaches most of Westchester County (especially the southern and eastern sections) and the northern parts of the Bronx, NY and Long Island and the south eastern part of Connecticut. The show can also be heard worldwide at www.wvox.com (temporarily suspended due to an industry-wide union-related dispute).
 
Each live show is a celebration of seniors and features about 10 guests who share themselves in a friendly heartfelt way with each other and the listening audience by reading aloud, stories, poems and essays and by singing and performing. Some will make you laugh and some with make you cry. The fast-paced variety radio show is being called "Share Radio" and "Reality Radio."
 
Frank Sisco hosts the show. Co-hosts have included Jessica Lawrence, Jean Busatti, Kelly Sisco, and Diane Haneseth. Edgar Caruana is an associate producer of the show. Regular guests include Jean, Edgar, Hal Wickliffe and Dan Rustin.
 
The opening of each show has an audio clip from Frank Sinatra's "That's Life" which is pertinent to the content of the shows, namely life experiences, high and low, up and down, which the seniors share.

About The SeniorMusings Talent Shows
We believe that seniors are talented and gifted, each with different talents and gifts, and that by sharing, everyone benefits! What better way than to have variety talent shows at which seniors can showcase themselves and have fun!

1. Cafe Mozart Senior Musings Talent Show on 6/13/2001
Great time had by all! Packed restaurant/club. Dance routines. Lots of singing. Story-telling. Poetry. Jokes. Microphone trophies given to category winners. Over 20 seniors peformed and six non-seniors performed senior-related material.

2. Hugh A. Doyle Senior Center's Talent Show, hosted by Frank Sisco and participated by Senior Musings certain regular guests (e.g. Jean Busatti, Edgar Caruana, Hal Witcliffe, Vinny Dunn) on 6/21/2001
Over 120 seniors watched and sang and clapped along! Over 15 performers, including a dance couple (Jack and Mary, each 90 years old), singers, piano players, story tellers, comedy skit writer and perfomers, jokes, etc. Sister Miriam Peppin did a wonderful job in organizing the event and even performed herself. Jack and Mary did the chacha and rumba on 6/21. The prior week they did the waltz as part of the Senior Prom that the Hugh A. Dolye Senior Center sponsored. Below is a photo of them as appeared in the Standard Star (part of The Journal News) on 6/22/2001. The talent show ended with everyone joining in to sing God Bless America.

Send it in via the above contact info, preferably by email, and also with a Word attachment, and enclose a copyright notice (Copyright symbol, year of creation, and name). By contributing a writing, you are accepting our disclaimer from any responsibility should another party infringe on your copyright or in any other way harm you or your rights.  Audio clips - Some of the writings have been spoken and recorded, and are so identified in the lists of writings. To access those audio clips, please go to the lists of writings and click on the appropriate goto phrase.

The Windows Media Player will enable you to hear the writer read the words of the writing, making the writing come alive with the tone, tempo, inflection and style intended by the writer. We suggest that you read along while listening, with the combined senses working to add depth to your enjoyment of the writing.
 
How to operate the audio
In some cases the audio will start automatically. In other cases, you need to press the play arrow. (The other buttons such as Stop and Speaker can be turned on or off by clicking.) If the audio does not work on your computer, email us for guidance. For many computers, the audio file can take up to a minute to download, and thus you need to wait for the moving progress square to finish before pushing the play button if you want to hear a smooth continuous flow of words. To enjoy it again, pull back the progress square and push the play button. Enjoy! 
Video clips- Some of the writers have been videotaped while reciting their writings, and are so identified in the lists of writings. To access those video clips, please go to the lists of writings and click on the appropriate goto phrase.
